I was in Louisville last night, so was able to finally stop by Bluegrass Motorsports and check the new 9-5 out.

I have to say that, at least initially, I wasn't blown away. Ok, I was slightly blown away because hey - this IS a new SAAB, but that was about it. I would take one, don't get me wrong, but to me, it was just a bit too Audi A6ish for my tastes - that is, the entire overall shape and form of the car. I think that the overall form will get lost in the crowd of similar sized (and shaped) sedans - whether domestic (Buick comes to mind), European (Audi), or dare I say, even Korean (Kia/Hyundai).

I think someone else said it as well - it does resemble the newer Buicks to me. If it had the Buick's grill, and more pronounces individual style tail lights - it would be close.

The price on the one that I was able to get close to was $55k. Not sure what to say about that, other than for me, that would be a model that I would have to wait and get for $20k-$25k in a couple of years, as sadly, I am afraid we're still going to see bottom feeder resale values. Or, wait until the 2.0 model comes out and pick it up with incentives.

So, though this sounds negative, I'd still own the car - I just don't think it makes as much impact (as far as being a distinctive SAAB branded car) as the previous Gen 9-5 or even current gen 9-3 Aero.

Rob
