About a month ago I did a full brake job, with Brembo rotors. One of the rear parking brakes gave me some trouble because it decided to explode when I removed the old rotor and when everything went back together I would get a slight resistance about once per revolution and my handbrake was ineffective.

Tonight I finally got around to what I thought would be a simple adjustment. In the end I did all of the following: removed rotors, inspected all components, sprayed PB Blaster on all moving and/or threaded parts, ran adjusters all the way "in" to retract shoes, verified cable movement (brake was very strong prior to my brake job), remounted rotors which at this point had completely free rotation, followed set-up procedure in repair manual. Upon activating parking brake at first click and then releasing, the left brake returned to its original condition where it would rub once per revolution, as if the bore was eccentric. The right did the same but it was very very slight. In an attempt to find a happy medium I backed off the adjuster nut in the center console with the idea of reducing the tension and adjust at the hub. This didn't work because now I had no tension on the cable and the left brake still dragged, so I re-tightened the adjust nut in console, then adjusted according to repair manual so that brake "should" fully engage upon 3-4 clicks at the lever and wheels appeared locked (trying to turn with 2 wheel bolts in the rotor but no wheel) I deemed the brakes good enough, realizing I still had some drag on the left and after 3 hours of monkeying around I finally put the wheels back on, lowered the car, locked the brake, and pushed the car back on level ground!

FWIW I noticed that with the rotor removed the entire shoe mechanism has some float to it, so I wouldn't be surprised it there is some rubbing even with a perfectly operating system. I would consider removing the whole system and driving around with wheel chocks, but that's frowned upon by the inspection people.

What else do I need to try?
