Exact same thing happened to me. I had the switch replaced at my independent mechanic.
I first noticed that it was a problem when my turn signals and other electrical items were not working properly... then pushing the clutch in and out would cause a grinding noise. Probably had something to do with the starter and the flywheel.
After a few minutes I realized the key was still in the "start" position and wouldn't return to "run/on".
