AMG. I am in the same "pcikle" as you. #2 sprang forward just like yours did. I have read EVERY post on your delimma. QUESTION: you said you rotated the crank 60 deg before TDC. Which way did you rotate, clockwise or did you go COUNTER CLOCKWISE and back up the crank? If I rotate clockwise (normal rotation) won't I interfere with valves on 2-4-6 bank? My whole problem came from #1 cam being one tooth off. I just could not get it to line up. In retrospect, I suspect it was in the tenioners. FYI, my 2000 9-5 V-6 is at 120k miles. It appears that this is the first timing belt replacement. The bearings were not in terrible shape, but bad enough to change out. One last item. Every time I would set the tensioner to the correct mark and torque to 15 ft/lbs, on rotation of the engine it would slip back to almost no tension and the belt would look a little slack between the tensioner and the crankshaft.
Of the road for now. Thanks, PFB.
PS; the heater bypass valve as a piece of cake to change.
