It's just another level of the same problem Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Mon, 4 Oct 2010 11:34:59 In Reply to: P0456 CEL code - haven't read about this one before, Shaun [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 3 Oct 2010 14:03:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Emission agency's have just cranked up the rules for EVAP leaks so what was earlier 0442 minor leak and 0455 major leak, now also have 0456 VERY minor leak.
This is even more tricky to find and repair without a smoke machine and the Tech 2 scanner to run EVAP test over and over again, and who knows, it might come down to a software glitch fixed by an update years from now due to that some computer nerd have set the pass/fail parameter to narrowly and it will take enough complaints from enough owners to get the ball rolling.
For I think the best you can do is to reset the fault and drive the car and study what type of conditions it takes for the code to come back. Hot/cold temp, gasoline level in tank etc, etc.
