Man I REALLY hope a new module fixes my ABS Posted by jgARC03SW [Email] (#1216) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jgARC03SW) on Thu, 7 Oct 2010 07:08:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I almost had my car totaled (within walking distance of home at least) this AM by some kid/idiot/(*&(*#!! who decided to ignore my honk and make a U-turn on a 40 mph street right as I was getting to where he was. Out of state plates, bad neighborhood, possible stolen car but I shouldn't jump to conclusions.
Anyway I slammed on my brakes, tires locked up, then he actually started going in front of me so I had to turn left to avoid him, causing me to fishtail in the rear once I got passed him. It felt like he had hit me on the right side but lucky for me he didnt (didn't seem like the type of kid/car to carry insurance) Luckily there was nobody coming in the oncoming lane (two lane road). He actually never stopped, and went BEHIND me.
I already ordered off fleabay yesterday an ABS module + pump assembly off a junked car. Supposedly there is a guarantee for life, but I just want something to work. My own ABS module came back from BBA as no fault found, but my mechanic still thinks it is the culprit so we will see if the new one can be programmed. I intend to unscrew the new module off of its pump and then bolt it onto mine and hopefully have it reprogrammed.
This is my second car, my first one also had ABS so I've never really had one without it. There was NO time to think about pumping the brakes. None. And it wasn't part of my "training" of just stomp on the pedal and steer.
Crystal clear day, and road was bone dry.
