When the oil cooler cover plate start to leak in a significant way you will notice, believe me.
It will be fresh coolant trickling out and over the bell housing and down past the starter.
Don't bother trying to retorque the bolts, they are already tight enough. That's not the problem in this scenario. Is it the bond between silicone and cast iron block that fails.
Corrosion is slowly allowed to creep in between cast iron and sealant, slowly working its way to the outside where after the aluminum cover expands and lifts slightly during every heating session of the engine.
Since aluminum and cast iron don't work at similar speeds, you will always have a tug-o-war between the two.
