the cross stay upper bushings have shown the outer rubber cracking for a while. not sure that means the bushing itself is bad. they are metal bushings, right? no problems with getting good alignment so far. I agree that at 150k definitely time. that is why I am inquiring. just trying to get around to the suspension now. car has kept me in the poor house in either $ or time on other things for several years. worn suspension parts dont keep the car from rolling (until really bad! haha!).
when you say the trailing arm bushing do you mean the control arm and not the ones that connect to the upper and lower cross stays? right? this one at the "front" of the arm: (bushing part#5059811)
is this an easy press. can it be done with the control arm on the car with some nifty tools or heating? if this one is rubber, can I just cut it out? then freeze/heat the new ones in while on the car?
if I take the whole arm off, might as well do all the bushings.
subframe too? oiy.
have to do little at a time. shocks I think are OK still. tire wear has been good. no cupping. although, I have been getting a radial pull when rotating rears to the front recently. probably related. I'll get to the shocks eventually too.
guess I'll try to crawl under her this weekend with the wheels off and see if I can see any other bushings in bad visible shape (not that that is all the evidence needed of course).
trying to determine what to attack first DIY. not going to throw big$ at this for someone else. but might have to take removed parts to someone to press. unless you guys have some ideas on pressing DIY with other tools. the WIS mentions Saab tools. I have yet to seriously research the forums but plan to and starting now. thanks!
