This is a common question. Do a search on "sludge". It can be present on some of the 1999 - 2003 cars with the 4 cyl because Saab (like VW and Audi) had trouble with emission controls and PCV systems in those years. The crankcase did not get properly vented and combined with oil-change intervals that were too long, the result was a sludge build-up that can clog the oil pickup screen in the pan, resulting in oil starvation and engine failure. Vehicles driven on short trips (unlikely in your case), where they don't get fully warmed up, are more prone.
The only thing that can prevent this is a better driving pattern and more frequent oil changes with full or semi-synthetic oil, ie. 5000 mi frequency. There is also a retrofit kit (PCV #6) that corrects the venting issues. In 2003-2004 they apparently got the bugs worked out so a later car is usually a safer bet. My personal 2001 had some evidence of sludge when I dropped the pan at 90K, I had it cleaned up and it's still running fine today at over 140K miles, still on the original turbo.
So check for service records showing a more frequent service interval, pull off the valve cover to inspect the inside of the cam area, and best of all is to have the oil pan dropped and the oil pickup screen inspected. At that mileage it has probably been well-maintained but you just never know what you'll find. Good luck, do a search for more info if you need.
