There is a round metal cover under the rear seat. That's the access for the fuel pump. You can listen there to see if that's your sound. No need to drop the tank on a 9-5, but there are tricks to changing the pump. There are lots of posts about tricks people have used to remove the retainer ring and fuel lines without breaking things.
