The Cadillac engine had both more torque and more hp than the Saab version. But both peaks were at higher rpm though, and I imagine the low-rpm torque of the Saab version is considerably better, at the expense of high-rpm power. No idea on the Saturn version.
I see no fundamental reason why the interval needs to be different between the versions. On the other hand, if I had the Caddy version I would probably change the belt at 60K just to be safe!
One note to Larry's point about changing the water pump every other belt change. Unlike many cars, the water pump is NOT driven by the timing belt, it is just that the labor to get to the pump is 75% of the labor to change the belt. However, if you are a DIY type, the pump itself is actually quite easy to change, AND fairly expensive. *I* would not change the pump until it indicated a failure. I did change a waterpump on my car at 55K, but it actually turned out that the sealing ring was bad, the pump itself was fine and in fact I gave it to a local guy who put it on HIS V6. Since I had bought the new pump and could not return it, I went ahead and put it on my car.
I did not DIY the timing belt though, it is a fairly ticklish proceedure on these cars, and of course the consequences of getting it wrong are dire.
