most of the wagons in Canada from 04-05 were no factory roof rails, then maybe 50/50 from what I can see 06+... seems more cars have rails in the US. I like the roof rails, a big + for the wagon (the clean look is less a novelty here + I like the utility). The thule-made Saab 9-5 roof racks (that fit in the holes) work nicely, but can only be positioned at a fixed separation if that's a concern for you. Afaik, 9-3 + 9-5 versions of this are different (the front/back bars are even different from each other). The Thule roof racks with saab fit kit are fine (+ fit most models) + can be moved fore/aft pretty easily, but it rests on the paint of the car + I don't love that (eg the thule fairing also has soft pads that rest on paint + those damage the paint surface over time from vibration - the fit kit is at least clamped)... with the rails, you get something like a thule crossroads + those are awesome... if you want rails on a rail-less 9-5 wagon, it can be done (someone on this bb did it if you search), but not easily (ie pulling headliner + drilling holes etc, not an easy swap like 9-3sc)...
I have way too many thule/yakima parts in my garage!!
