I got rid of my '05 9-5 Aero 3 yr ago and have regretted it ever since - got an '08 9-3 (thought I wanted something different) which is a fine car, but I still miss my Aero.
I've been looking for a good '04-'05 Aero to replace my 9-3, and there are not many out there (at least here in Chicago, which has a decent Saab population - not quite up to the NE, but better then most).
My brother-in-law told me that the service guys at the dealer told him these are the most sought after because the sludge problem has been fixed, but they still have "pre-GM parts bin" interior. You'll see more '04s than '05s, as the '04s seemed to be a bit more popular. In the past 3 mos, I've only seen ~2 come on the market and they have sold right away.
If you like it, and it checks out, I'd go for it.
