I am in the middle of a windshield nightmare.
Safelite cracked out my glass (was small chip, cracked to width of windshield). Both Geico and Safelite shrugged their shoulders and told me tough. Went to a glass shop, first PPG windshield has terrible vertical distortion bands running the width of the windhshield every six inches or so. Second PPG glass had bad distortion bands, albeit somewhat less than first. He had the third PPG shipped in from another wholesaler in long island as opposed to NJ to elimiate the issue of a bad batch. The third PPG was also distrored. Installer sprung for a Pilkington (sp?) glass without charging me extra and put that in. Glass was optically perfect, save for the standard edge distortion due to curvature.
However, I now have wind noise at highway speeds and am battling and troubleshooting that. What a pain in the arse experience this has been.
