I went with the OEM pad and bought from a dealer friend of mine. I can get the actual price.....I think it was around $100.
I was going to take the seat apart and look for a burnt portion of the heating element as recommended on this board..... but I decided to buy the new pad must in case.
Well when I got in there I could see no damage or burned areas where the wire was broken, and the new pad fixed it. So in my case I am happy I had the new pad.
Also the old pad is glued to foam with contact cement, and the WIS recommends using benzene to remove it....and tell you not be mess up the foam too much. I just laid the new pad on top of the old and used the built in adhesive areas [just remove paper] to stick it on. I have a bad heating pad and a good one in there now. I now it is not elegant, but it worked well and I did not have to spend hours breathing benzene or some other solvent.
My has some occasional back pain and she loves the seat heater on a cold damp day....or just a cold day.
