replaced thermostat

Gauge was indicating low temp at highway speed, dropped to "zero" and set CEL - diagnosed stuck thermostat. Changed it yesterday, one of my first DIY's on on my '04 Arc, less than two hours. Thanks to "Jeff in MD" and Fixmysaab.com for posting instructions, it was quite straight forward. Especially appreciated Jeff's suggestions on tools and gloves. Stumbled across a great deal (Costco) on a pair of Snap-on mechanics gloves the morning of the job and probably will never do mechanical work without them again. Also changed the temperature sensor, which took a couple minutes and $20. Few tips from my experience: 1)lots of opportunities to drop tools/bolt down into where they can be near impossible to retrieve, 2) caught virtually all the antifreeze with a 14"x18" drain pan when just letting it flow from the thermostat housing 3) worked fine to leave the radiator hose attached 4) there is a little bracket holding a hose attached to the back of the ts housing that needs to bent out of the way to removed the housing that can be bent back when replacing.
Thanks again to this board and all those that have posted such useful info in the past.
