When I purchased my new Prius in 2007 for work I kept my 2001 9-5 (with 120K) to use for road trips. After the initial fun of hypermiling and running on the electric only wore off I realized how much I disliked driving the thing. In my opinion they are great urban vehicles or for people who don't enjoy driving much. I sold mine after 8 months and got almost what I paid for it. It had averaged 46 MPG over 15K miles, a lot of which was highway. Can't argue with that, but I ended up buying another 9-5 and not looking back.
