161k mi on 1999 9-5 SE LPT Sedan
new shocks and struts with mounts just installed
the noises especially from the rear are increasing. when initially braking while backing up, I get a pop/shift sound from the rear both sides. seems to have increased even more with the new shocks over last couple weeks. I suppose the new stiffer parts put more forces on the old worn parts. the outer cross stay hub upper and lower bushings for many years have shown torn on the rubber outer boot-type portions. my tire/suspension guy has always told me that since they are metal bushings, just wait until we have a movement or alignment problem. I have never pulled down to look at the trailing arm bushings. cant really get an analysis from visual inspection of the inner cross stay hub bushings at the subframe.
always difficult to diagnose and determine which bushings are the culprits, right?
so...what are the most common most likely culprits to attack first? trailing arm bushing? outer cross-stay hub bushings (PIA, right?)
I know the front of the car is not far off either but one thing at a time this year. I have to buy tires this year too. $$, budgeting, etc.
