For others to learn.
It is best to smear it out thinly all over the surface instead of leaving it as a bead.
You only need a tiny layer over the surface for it to work.
I use my finger to slowly get it spread out and not to thick or thin.
Volvo use their own product which is way more liquidy in the tube and you use a fine nap paint roller to apply it on the valve cover when doing head gaskets and such. The first times I was very suspicious to if it would work since I had been using the 518 on Saab's for several years and the thicker consistency.
After applying the Volvo stuff, you could barely see that it was anything there and I had my doubts but it seems to be working fine.
On the Volvo you don't want it too thick since it is lots of very fine oil channel grooves in the valve cover for camshaft lubrication and they could get plugged up if the sealant is squeezed out too much.
