We changed batteries in the remote entry keys recently and all was well with both of our Aero Wagons.
Wife's remote entry was getting bogus and quit. When operating the locks from inside the vehicle, that action was not right. Sometimes worked, sometimes not. The key observation was that it took two unlock operations to get the passenger door open. That is the factory default and we had that reprogrammed so all doors opened.
I suspected that there was a power issue. Inspected battery, 16 months old, all cells had good levels. Removed one battery terminal to allow electronics to re-initialized. The terminal clamp was not loose, but was not tight either. There was no trace of acid or corrosion at all. The contact surfaces were dry and grey [oxidized]. Brightened the terminal posts and inside of clamps with #300 sandpaper, cleaned and installed with LPS-3 on the posts before the cable terminals and tightened the clamps firmly.
You can also inspect the state if the smaller +ve cable to the clamp.
I think that the battery contact surfaces and low contact pressure were causing problems with the small currents required when the vehicle was shutdown.
[This was a battery, Maxx-48, installed by Walmart. Took the tech 1/2 hour for some reason. Just put a new battery in my Aero and that took about 3 minutes. Walmart did not have the Maxx-48, might be getting phased out, had to get a made in Spain euro spec battery what was a lot more $.
