START with the battery. Take it out and get it tested at a auto parts store for free (if you have the means to do it). Test it yourself if you can.
How old is the battery?
Also, at the auto parts store they have code readers. You'll have to drive your car and they'll read the SAAB computer and give you codes, if any.
Take those codes and search these boards to get an idea of what is up.
Sputtering, for me, was a bad CPS sensor (2000 SAAB 9-5 Aero 4 Cyl).
These things are DIY and the boards should give you some confidence to tackle it yourself.
What SAAB do you have (model, sub-model, miles, year...)?
