my tranny has a 4-5 second delay when shifting from park/n to drive. Its an auto 5sp 02 aero. It clunks pretty hard when it engages and does it about 90% of the time. Any other driving conditions are just fine. My saab specialist says its the valve body. He reflashed it but it didnt work and did a pressure test which indicated to him that a valve was not properly functioning. I was also told to try replacing the battery which i did but still not working. fluid level is high though. was told that wont make a difference. Looking at the engine when it shifts, it definitely takes an impact and you can see it move a good bit. I can see it being the tranny mounts if when it engaged normally this would happen, but the tranny engages late then clunks hard. I'm sure the tranny mounts offer some movement and this impact from the delayed rough engagement is jerking the engine and just using the travel the mount is providing. Whats up with these trannys anyway? Suggestions/thoughts anybody?
Anybody have issues with manual trannys? Seems that manuals arent as finicky as these autos...
