I've never liked the chrome trim on the MY '06+ cars, thought it would grow on me but it never did. A few weeks ago I decided to paint the chrome on the front of my '07 Aero SC 60th with plasti dip, quite a few guys on the VW/Audi forums use it to black out grills. I thought it turned out rather well, I drove the car from Seattle to SF and back and went through a few mountain passes with lots of salt and rocks hitting the car, no chips or scratches. It's held up rather well, the cool thing about the plasti dip is that it peels off easily if I want to go back to the stock appearance. I decided to remove the front bumper cover to do a proper job, it wasn't that difficult to remove. My wife thought I'd gone mental though when she saw the bumper cover off the car the night before we were going to drive to San Francisco :).
