Just did first alternator job. Took a bit, but now should not be too bad. Here are a few notes.
1) I decided to do the "drill though the side method" to get the top alternator screw out. Take your time to measure and worked fine with 1/2" drill bit.. Have to get an 8 mm long hex, cut off the L with a rotary tool and a cutting stone. Get a 3/8" drive 8mm socket to put on the end. Use this for the lower and upper alternator screw removal.
2) Used the "lift the engine" trick to get the alternator out. Remove the alternator and set down. Remove the 4 bolts and the tensioner assembly, jack the engine up as far as it will go until the car starts going up. Cut off the two metal tabs off of the intake manifold if you have them. Remove the alternator from the top. Not too bad at all.
