Repair for Recirculation Motor - New Resistor

Many people experience the common failure mode for the recirculation motor of the plastic link breaking, but my motor had a different failure. The system gave code 21 - Direct current motor, air recirculation flap - B+ open circuit or shorted to ground. Since my car is a 2001, i was able to remove the motor and open it up - the resistor was burned beyond recognition. The resistor is supposed to be 18 ohms, 1/2 watt, but I replaced it with a 15 ohm, 1/2 watt resistor from Radio Shack ($0.99 for a 5-pack) and it works great. Hope this helps some of you . . .
