the warning and chimes are from the SID.
I put a after market touch screen radio with integrated GPS, and tons of bells and whistles. the steering wheel controls worked. We even installed the Saab splash screen. It was all very flashy and cool.
if you are parked.
it was hell to operate if you are trying to drive. Call me an old geezer but I think that a touch screen operated stereo is downright dangerous to operate while driving. Although the steering wheel controls worked, you still need to navigate menus to use GPS, switch between GPS and stereo and Ipod, to dial, etc etc. And the voice activation was poor .. it never understood me. I am back to the OEM and very happy.
funny story .. it was so flashy and cool that it was stolen! I was actually glad to be rid of it and to go back to the OEM that no one wants to steal, and can be operated without taking my eyes off the road.
