Dealer said they can't disarm the theft module

Last night I had the second middle of the night car alarm going off (just briefly, thankfully) problem this month. I put new batteries in the alarm module about 4 years ago, so either they are wearing out or it's some other problem. I called the local Saab dealer about using the Tech II to just disable the alarm, and they said it can't be done. He said if you disable the alarm, you won't be able to start the car. Seemed like plenty of other people have done it, but I guess I'll remove the alarm and sent it out to either A&T or BBA to have them fix it. People seem pretty satisfied with the results.
