A/C repair requires pulling the dash...do I do it?

Hi everyone,
After yet another A/C recharge after a 5 week period (it lost 1 lb of refrigerant), I've had two different shops now tell me the problem with my car's A/C is not stepper motor, recirc motor, no error codes, but is likely a leak/issue somewhere in the dash. My local Saab shop told me I'm looking at between a $1200 and $2000 repair to pull the dash, find the problem/leak, fix it and replace the dash. Mostly time and labor. The other shop was totally stumped by the problem and told me to sell it!
I'm on the fence...it's an insane amount of money to throw into the car, especially since I plan on being first in line for a new '12 9-5 SC when they get here. If they pull the dash, I'm sure it will rattle like crazy once it's put back. And who knows if the repair will even work.
I'm still trying to figure out...if everything works fine, and the car is recharged, why does it still blow warm on the driver's side? Does anyone have a schematic of the A/C system?
It's now undriveable on long trips if the outside temp is over 85 degrees F unless I want to sweat. Thankfully my '97 9000 Aero has nice ice cold ONE zone A/C!!
Fix it, or sell it to someone in Alaska? Frustrating as the car has only 43K on it.
