-2003 keys are available as an ilco blank cut at our local automotive locksmith $35, or $80 with an embedded transponder chip.... dmz789qqq pointed me down that road... I saw the key blanks - they had them in stock...

*but* the shaft changed in 2004 so it's thicker... apparently it takes a while for ilco et al. to get the rights to produce a "new" key blank design... the locksmith thought he found a (strange) blank that might work, but apparently not (he didn't order it in the end anyway)... he says if they make it he can cut it... (see link for what I am trying to do)...

so I thought I'd try here 1 last time to see if anyone else found a blank for a 2004+ car... I may have to break down + buy another factory key, and possibly cut the plastic off... I wish SAAB made a simple svelte "open the door only" key for 2004+!!
