well, I've got a 2004, so I can only get the integrated key ("remote key 2" in the faq)... (if you search, you'll see my efforts to do otherwise)... I went to the dealer, asked them the price for each part + the cost of programming... they were exorbitant ($400 total for a key!!)... I said, fine, I will buy a cut key body (no back even) and buy the other parts used + get my indy to program it... so they sold me the cut key body... they still made money, just not as much... what else can they do?
For you, life is easier, as you have a 2001. you can go to any competent automotive locksmith + they can cut you a key (Ilco makes blanks with and without transponders) if you want a banana remote or even no remote at all. But, the integrated key is nice + if you want that, just follow Larry's advice in the faq: get the cut key from the dealer, get a used key (wrong cut) and transfer guts + back. Programming requires a tech2.
good luck!
James...
