I thought the same thing. The pads(are yours Akebonos?) are beveled or flared on the corners. Shortly after I had them installed(I bought the pads and rotors), I went back to my mechanic and asked about it and he said that you cant tell just by looking at them through the wheels. They have been fine for over 9 months.
