All 9-5 V-6 models have the same engine - 200 HP with peak torque at 229 lb.ft. The 2002 Arc engine is the same as the 2000 SE. I like mine a lot - '99 model SE with 46K miles, no problems to date. I find it's performance superior to the base 2.3 engine and IMHO it is the better choice (unless you want a manual transmission). Of course there are many on this board who disagree with me and the base 2.3 4 cyl. is a well proven, durable engine with upside potential if you reprogram the ECU and add other performance goodies.
If you like how the 2000 SE V6 runs, I think you will be very happy with it. Remember that the timing belts need replacement at 60k miles. Saab pays for this on the '99 model and I think they do on all V6 models, but you might want to check this out. Much has been said about belts vs chains for camshaft drive and there are pro's and cons to each. Some of the top cars in the world use belts and, if changed when recommended, they are very reliable, quiet and effective.
