If it is a turbo problem, it will keep smoking and you will keep getting oil in the intercooler. If the turbo really fails with will populate the intercooler so much you may have to have it removed / cleaned / replaced. The intercooler is a radiator like thing that the heated compressed air from the turbo goes though to cool down a bit. Oil is used in the turbo for lubrication and antifreeze for cooling. If the seals in the turbo go (and they do) this stuff can get into the compressed air going to the engine via the intercooler (and has for some of my cars). A dealer turbo replacement will be $1200+ Indy might keep it about $1200. Don't know the price of the valve issue, but I do know that used heads are about $400 and then the labor to put one on....etc. I would prefer to do the turbo, but both are a bit time consuming.
Sooooooo find a friend, learn your self, etc....
To take the air intake off the throttle body is easy, it is center back on the engine that has a large plastic black pipe going to the top. There is a band holding it on and you can turn this off with a screw driver or a small socket ratchet. Then feel inside for oil or look inside the throttle for oil. It will be obvious......
