Fresh oil often makes a car start easier, idle better and just feel better overall. That's fairly common.
But there is probably no quantitative difference in heat dissipation between the two oils. To accurately measure this it seems like you'd need to have a baseline test at different ambient temperatures on the M1, then on the Amsoil at the same temperature, after identical drive cycles and with both oils oil having the same amount of mileage.
Good quality oil is important and as long as it's ACEA A3/B3 in these engines every 5K miles it should be fine.
