Three sets of photo instructions on how to remove unit Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 18 Sep 2011 06:51:22 In Reply to: abs, pam, Sat, 17 Sep 2011 16:13:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The first is from BBA Reman's web site:

The other two are from the Scribd web site:

I used the instructions from Scribd to remove my controller. Total time was under an hour to remove it, and my time clock includes all set-up and putting things away afterwards. As you can see from the photos, the tools required for this job are fairly simple and readily available. I did not drive my car while the module was removed as I scheduled the work around vacation time. Other people have continued to use their cars with the module removed by sealing the open part of the ABS unit in a plastic bag with duct tape. This makes me very uneasy, but not others apparently.
You can drive the car with a non-functional ABS unit. You will still have fully functional standard power brakes, but with none of the safety enhancements ABS provides.
