Code 06 error on ACC system - stepper motor? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 25 Oct 2011 16:10:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
this just started tonight when leaving work. The driver's side air vents deliver a steady blast of hot air while the passenger side delivers cold/cool air. Recalibration yields a code 06 which my WIS identifies as a grounded/shorted damper stepper motor on the driver's side (I was so hoping for passenger side.....)
Is replacement of the stepper motor the cure for this? Should I plan on doing a Code 08 repair at the same time since I will already be crawling on my back in the driver's side footwell? Or is this code often displayed for mechanical damper faults such as code 08?
The ACC system checked as A-OK two weeks ago after replacing the repaired SID unit.
TIA
p.s. - My wife says to get a new car. Maybe she is jealous of the attention this one receives from me? $160 for a new stepper motor, maybe another $100 for the damper linkage arm to cure/prevent a code 08 fault.
