Like Doug, I recently replaced my rear springs with OEM and installed the Bilstein HD struts on my 02 Aero Wgn w/ 77k miles. I started at 22" in the rear. The front is at 23.1". Afterwards, my rear ride height increased to 23.1". My Indy can't explain why the ride height did not return to spec. He checked my rear sub frame and all the bushings -- everything is in good shape. I then took my car to a highly recommended alignment shop with significant Saab experience -- including installing camber shims. My RR camber was -2.1 and my LR camber was -1.8. The alignment shop also inspeced all of my suspension components and gave them a passing grade. They too couldn't explain why my rear ride hieght did not return to spec after new OEM springs and Bilstein HD struts.
So I ordered camber shims from GS and the alignment shop installed them. Very pleased with their work -- they completely removed the hubs, cleaned everything throughly and then installed the shims. MY RR camber is now -.9 and the LR camber is -1.0. Ride height stayed the same at 23.1" and that's the way it will stay for as long as I own this car. I'm beginning to seriously question whether my 02 Aero was at 24" the day in rolled off the assembly line. At any rate, I'm done screwing around with it. My car is level front to rear, good, bad or indifferent. It looks fine, handles great and now I can install my winter tires w/o worrying I'll chew up the rears after only a couple thousand miles. My .2 cents worth.....
