At 186K miles, I'm looking at a second Garrett GT 1725 turbo rebuild for my 1999 2.3lpt Saab 9-5. I did the first one at about 90-100K miles when parts were hard to find back then and I finally located someone who used to work for Garrett out in California. Today, there seems to be a lot more rebuilders and kits around and I've got my eyes on parts from Kamak instead of the cheaper Chinese outfits. They even seem willing to sell me a GT 1752 parts only kit instead of the larger advertised one for additional Garrett models. I'm also contemplating the redesigned oil seal ring offered by Swedish Dynamics for $25. Seems like a good investment if it adds more oil seepage resistance into the exhaust side.
As an alternative I've seen YouTube clips advising going with a true Aero upgrade with a Mitsubishi TD04(?) and also needing the matching TD04 oil lines to fit the smaller banjo bolts. Seems there are variations of the TD04? Which one is correct?
Thanx for any discussion.
