Finally got my 2000 9-5 V6 back on the road (sort of) following a transmission replacement. Original failure was a cracked flex plate taking out the Torque Converter seal and front pump assembly. I got a used tranny from a '99 2.3 from the LKQ U-Pull yard; $125 w/TQ. It was a real struggle doing it solo in my garage with a floor jack and engine hoist. Now the Neutral Safety Switch is giving me fits.

What is the board's recommendation on a Diagnostic Scan Tool for the home mechanic? I do have several cars(foreign and domestic)that could benefit from use.

Saw an episode of "Wheeler Dealers" on Velocity channel this AM. They were "puffing up" a 2002 9.3. They used a small device that could be hooked to the car for a test drive. Once back in the shop, they hooked it to a laptop for viewing of results. Looked really neat.

Thanks to all for your assitance on the tranny over the past 15 (I'm not a very fast mechanic) months. Jeff Levi AKA PolarFBear
