This is a car I inherited at 257k. I have no records, and no easy way to get them.
This morning, again, there was NO sign of oil burning smoke. And since it snowed yesterday in WI, it would be pretty easy to see any smoke against the white snow. No smell either.
Car seems perfect! There is no "winey bearing "noise" from the turbo either.
I've owned 5 Saabs, and have even done a turbo replacement myself, and even have every intention of rebuilding a turbo, if necessary, with the kit sitting in my garage at the ready.
All I can think of, is if the oil was dumped in so fast, and maybe the drain holes were sludged over a bit, that the oil might have ran into some higher up tube that it normally wouldn't have access to.
That is my question. Are there any pathways to the turbo from the oil fill area?
I mean, I've changed Saab oil on at least 50 different occasions, and never had this happen. And I am familiar, and quite experienced with turbo failure.
I still wonder about a failing valve seal. Both turbo and valve seal would give an almost immediate puff of blue smoke out the exhaust, like what happened.
And it all seems fine, now.
Thanks for the comments!!
Craig
