The MAP sensor is part of the speed density system used to calculate the proper fuel/air mixture. It would run poorly or not at all. It would also set a CEL. When you turn the key on, the ECM checks for any variation between the MAP sensor and the Charge Air Pressure sensor. If there is more than a few kilopascals of difference it will set a fault code.
