GT17 Turbo Rebuild or Aero Upgrade?

At 186K my 1999 2.3 lpt 9-5 needs another OEM Garrett GT17 turbo rebuild. I've done this once before about 6 years ago with about $100 worth of parts and a fair amount of car wrestling time...My hesitation now is the nagging wish to go with an Aero upgrade to a more durable Mitsubishi turbo. Would this be the TD03 model? I dread the hassle of getting any different oil and water lines, since they are all rigid pipe and make up the most difficult part of getting the turbo in and out of the car. Aren't there flex line conversions out there? Otherwise, anybody have dead on specific info on how to make this upgrade turbo conversion? Any photos? Do I need to do any ECU tuninng upgrade after to make this work? Would this be a later option? Over the years I swapped out the stock suspension for an Aero setup, with sway bars yet to be added. I also added the slightly larger Saab plastic air intake pipe and got one of the last Remus sport exhausts. I'm not ready to get too radical with further exhaust or major engine mods, just looking for the turbo upgrade advice for now.
Thanx,
Kirk D
