Does the radio say it needs a code? If so the DICE for some reasons has forgot the "wedding" that took place between radio and DICE and the radio has to be married again to DICE using a Tech 2 scanner.
This is not suppose to happen even if battery goes dead or is disconnected but it has been a few cases where it has.
It could be many different reasons for voltage spikes or drops and you need to verify that alternator, battery and both battery cables or good.
Check carefully down by the alternator to see if the lug ring and cable is burned.
