NOTHING to do with camber Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Sun, 25 Dec 2011 13:02:44 In Reply to: Re: 2003 9.5 Aero Roaring noise from rear ????, Dean, Sun, 25 Dec 2011 10:38:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I run 2 degrees of camber on the rear of my 1973 911 Porsche and have NO cupping problems. Yes the inside of the tire wears more and it does run more like a "cone", but does not cause any cupping.
Cupping is caused by too much toe in. Think of it as the tire being forced to run a bit sideways. After a while it starts wearing in an uneven pattern.
The Saab 95 suspension increases camber and toe in as it rides lower. Worn lateral bushings give you weird alignment as well. Upper lateral arms wear and are usually gone at 90,000 miles. springs sag as well.
I tore up a couple of sets of tires and lived with lots of roaring noise from the rear until I bit the bullet and learned about the suspension and really fixed it.
I suggest you do the same.
