02 Aero . rough paint finish

I wash the car manually with cold water, following the manual. For the first time today I noticed patches that feel rough - that is parts of the paintwork feel silky smooth and others feel like fine sand paper. There is no effect on the lustre of the paint. These rough patches are not visible - only noticeable when you slide your hand over the body. The patches are particularly noticeable over the front wheel aches and the topmost part of the bonnet closest to the windscreen.
Has anyone else the same experience ?
