Change the coolant at the same time. Then you can simply unhook the throttle body heat hose when you wrap the check valved line from the oil separator to whatever it attaches to. There's a neoprene sheet that gets wrapped around the heat hoses and check valve to prevent the possibility of it's icing up.
As for the hoses, the only one I kept was the drain from the oil separator to the sump. The big fat hose from the valve cover was real live rubber and by now is mostly mush. The new one, IIRC, is EPDM, a rubbery plastic that is far more resistant to the oil mist that flows through it. Remember that you are drawing a vacuum on that hose, and a mushy hose flattens shut under vacuum.
The procedure calls for loosening the intake manifold stay - that step is a lot easier than you would think from looking at the instruction drawings. You do need to lookout for the hot wire going to the alternator if you choose to ignore the "disconnect the battery" step. I recommend disconnecting the battery.
