Tighten the battery posts?

This may sound silly, but that's precisely what happened to me a few years ago, after replacing the battery (and some other maintenance work, just to confuse the matters), the car would stumble when cold, and would shut down entirely if I back up and make a turn up a slight hill out of my drive way (with vehicle front pointing but back up while turning) then shift into drive forward. The result was entirely reproduceable: the engine shuts down as soon as the shift into drive takes place. Tightening the battery post solved the problem. My post-facto rational is that when the battery post is not tight, slight engine shift due to shifting disconnected the battery while the engine wasn't entirely lubed up and there wasn't enough rotational inertia in the engine/wheels/car therefore still needed the current draw from the battery to keep the engine turning over. It only happened when very cold out and the car was starting after parking overnight.
