Somewhere 100 years ago or so I posted the actual ranges which default the gauge to middle of the road.
You CAN change the gauge to read actual temps by changing the 'centering' range take out the dead spot that leaves the gauge reading rock steady. It of course in in the Tech II menu.
It is pretty common practice now to put a buffer in the reading, because people freak out when the guage climbs on hot days in bumper to bumper traffic. And it DOES move a lot if you make it read for real.... which is comforting to me. I like to have real data from my gauges ;-)
