I have 17" rims on a 2004 arc. I don't find them problematic at all, but I am used to cars with lots of road feel (also own 2 c900's)... Many cars these days use 17" rims, so for the most part tire choice/cost is not vastly different than 16" unless you are really going for economy tires (but why bother putting crummy tires on a nice car like the 9-5)... For winter, 16" wheels are probably better, though I have a spare set of 17" alloys that I have debated using in winter... winter tire choices can be significantly more expensive on 17" rims...
