A/C UPDATE CODES ETC... Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Fri, 3 Feb 2012 11:03:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I posted here some time ago about getting a code 22 when I calibrated my ACC, and I had no compressor working. I took it to my A/C guy and he said the pressure looked OK, but the compressor relay was not getting a ground from the ECU.
Code 22 on the ACC translates to software corrupted. We tried another ACC head and that did not do it. My indy, THE RIGHT SOLUTION put their Tech 2 on it and could not really find anything.
After some WIS research, the only idea I could come up with was that something like the pressure switch on the condenser, or something with the temp sensor was stopping the computer from getting the right signal. The pressure switch is hooked to the DICE computer and DICE tells the ECU whether to send ground or not.
I went back to THE RIGHT SOLUTION and told Walter Wong to dig deeper with the Tech 2. he went into the DICE and came up with a code of B2360 A/C PRESSURE SENSOR SHORT TO GROUND OR A/C PRESSURE SENSOR OPEN. Now we knew exactly where the problem was coming from.
Walter was swamped, so I took the car home and took out the grille and right headlight......and the pressure sensor wires were torn out of the connector! I had to take the Weatherpak connector apart and solder the wires back in place and put it back together. Everything works fine now!
I have no idea how the wires got torn out....it is pretty isolated back there behind the headlight.
When I recalibrated the system the code 22 was gone.
I am happy to have this solved. It has been a couple of months and I was getting concerned I had some big problem.....I am very relieved that it was simple and did not cost anything. I am going to have my A/C Morgan check the pressure and all again now that it is running. I have never touch the refrigerant in the 11 years that I have owned the car. I want him to give the system a clean bill of health.
I hope this information is useful to anyone who has had A/C problems. I have learned how valuable the WIS and Tech 2 are in trouble shooting. Here we knew what the problem was on a component that we could not even see or reach without quite a bit of dis-assembly.
